PhotoMagic
offers Fine Art reproduction using the Roland HiFi Jet, 6 color
printer. We used two criteria to select this printer: 1) Photographic
quality printing (ie. no dots!), and 2) Achievability. We are
able to print up to 1400dpi for exceptional detail, and we use
pigment inks for archiveability. One of the papers we use, the
Concord Rag, was tested (by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc.) with
the pigment inks to be archival to 120-130 years.
The reproduction process includes:
1. Consultation
2. Scanning
3. Proofing
4. Printing
5. Archiving
The following is an explanation of each step,
and the associated costs.
1. Consultation
First,
we view you artwork and discuss how it would best be reproduced.
We show you samples of the papers that can be used, and discuss
the qualities and limitations of each. There is no charge for
consultation.
2. Scanning
The
reproduction process begins by "capturing" the image
either by scanning or photographing your artwork. We recommend
scanning for images up to 32 inches long, as this captures the
finest detail. Next best would be to photograph the artwork using
a large format cameras (producing a 4x5 transparency), and scanning
the transparency. The following are the prices for these two methods
of image capture.

3. Proofing
Next, we begin
printing proof prints to help match the color and density of your
artwork. Typically we start with a few 3x5 prints to get the color
close, then we print a few larger prints (5x7 or 8x10) for you
to view. If the print still needs some work, then we can continue
with the proofing process.

4. Printing
Once
the proof print is approved, we proceed to print the full size
piece of art. We offer the two types of paper already mentioned
above: Concord Rag paper, and Semi-Gloss photo paper. The Concord
Rag paper is the most like water color paper, with a textured
surface. The Semi-Gloss is more like photo paper. Both papers
produce rich colors, but the Semi-Gloss can print a wider contrast
range. Please see price list for
printing costs.
5. Archiving
Finally,
we can archive your artwork as a digital file on CD for future
prints.
Archiving Costs:

| Storage

Print on demand
The beauty of the "Print-on-demand"
process in lower up front costs, and less storage space needed!
Once the artwork has been archived to CD, you can simply order
prints as you need them. Often our artists will order 2-10 prints
at a time when needed.
